Digital Animation

Ambition truly is the killer of art. Just kidding, but for the majority of this project, I was really humbled. The tutorial looked easy enough, but for the shots I had planned and the time I put aside, nothing was enough. Instead, I embraced the imperfections and chose a project where two friends, the ghost and the dog, live in a haunted castle where they make music together. The dog is the DJ and producer while the ghost provides “haunting” vocals. To start, I created all of my illustrations in Illustrator before organizing the layers and importing them into After Effects. Once in After Effects, I created most of the basic animation by just keyframing the positioning. Additionally, I created several faces for the ghost; however, instead of animating them for each frame, I just dragged them in. Finally, after completing each scene individually, I compiled them into Premiere Pro, where I felt more comfortable. Also, I added my own sound effects and music, which I’m all together pretty happy with. Both the intro song and the actual song were composed by me in a relatively short amount of time. I tried to match the beat with the animations, but alas, I almost exploded after 2 hours of trying.
