For my project, I did a parody of the Weapons teaser, the 2025 horror film directed by Zack Cregger. I initially really struggled with the concept as I don’t have much experience in filming, but I gave it my best go. I went for really low-hanging fruit for the parody, as most people commented that the distinct way in which the children run in the film is reminiscent of the anime Naruto. Ergo, the parody depicts an adult child/nerd imitating his favorite show, Naruto. I tried to recreate certain shots to establish the vibe of the film before devolving into bafoonery. I exchanged the original voiceover, which depicts a cop trying to console a father over that father’s missing child, with my own, which involves a cop showing disappointment and concern for the behavior of this strange adult man obsessed with being a ninja. I also tried to add a filter for certain shots to recreate this ring doorbell look that the teaser has at the end. I added my own creepy music, which I composed myself, that tries to capture the original score of the teaser trailer. Overall, I enjoyed the experience but wish I had more time to get more people involved. Especially because every time you see me on screen, you can see the realization of what I'm doing start to kick in, and I start to cringe.
