Art comes from many different places. For some, it comes from a surface-level joy of all things beautiful. Other times it comes from a place deep inside the soul. Jake Storey is interested in both sources, hoping to find a balance between the two. Jake takes in all levels of stimuli and channels it into collages of design and music. Each piece evokes a variety of emotions, but more importantly, they explore the intricacies of those emotions. What is anger if not an absence of love? Is sadness always a reaction to something negative? Maybe melancholy and anxiety are involved. These are questions Jake explores in his art. With each piece comes a new topic to explore but the theme stays the same. Complexity and nuance exist in every facet of our lives. Can we explore those complexities with design alone?
